The Martin girls’ basketball season e3-12 martin girlsnded at the same level as a year ago, in the regional semifinals.

The Lady Clippers lost 48-38 to Wyoming Tri-Unity Christian at Mendon, finishing their regular campaign with a 14-9 overall record. They lost in the regional semis a year ago Potter’s House at Bloomingdale.

After spotting Tri-Unity a five-point lead, 15-10 at the end of the first quarter, Martin cut the deficit to just two points, 21-19, and even took the lead, 32-30, to start the final eight minutes before being outgunned 18-6 down the stretch.

Junior forward Jazmine Hildebrand had another quality outing, scoring 17 points and gathering 16 rebounds. Guard Taylor Curry contributed seven rebounds and senior Cassidy Beazley six, but Beazley scored only four points, well below her average. Susan Weber added seven points for the Lady Clippers.

Tri-Unity, now 18-6 for the campaign overall, got 16 points from Sarah Buffum and a dozen from Cierra Smith.
