It was smooth sailing for the Martin girls’ varsity basketball team Friday night in a 48-18 triumph at Bangor.

The Lady Clippers held the host team to single digits in scoring in all four quarters. After a slow start, trailing 7-5 at the end of the first quarter, they used a 19-4 second quarter burst to take control 24-11 at intermission. It was more of the same the rest of the way, as the Vikings scored only seven points in the second half.

Martin’s bruising inside game was too much for Bangor to handle. Jazmine Hildebrand collected 17 points and 14 rebounds and Cassidy Beazley added nine points and nine rebounds. Pam Heijerman chipped in eight points and Susan Weber six.

The victory upped Martin’s overall season record to 10-6.
