The Hopkins girls’ track team finished the dual meet season undefeated in the O-K Silver Conference with a 107-22 triumph over Kelloggsville.

The Vikings boys, meanwhile, finished their league dual meet season with a 4-2 record.

The final conference standings will be determined in the league meet Thursday at Kelloggsville. The Lady Vikings are the favorites to take all the marbles and the guys are seeking to inch into the top two places.

It was a big day for freshman Gracie DeZeeuw, who usually is in a supporting role in running events, but copped firsts in the 400-meter run and the 800. Fellow freshmen Cassidy Finney and Alyssa Beilby made it a sweep in the 400 by taking second and third.

Meghan Schulz did not throw her best in winning the shot, but her 111-6.5 was her best ever in the discus.

Senior Alyssa Rausch and sophomore Shannon Henshaw also captured firsts, in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles, respectively.

Brittney Houseman won the 100 meters again and sophomore Laura Velderman won both the 200 and 1600, but appeared to have both her races on cruise control.

Madison Snoeyink edged out Jasmine Fisher in the 3200, Cheyenne Miller took the high jump and Savannah Emaus won both the pole vault and long jump.

Of course, the Lady Viking relay quartets did their usual winning efforts, but all were on cruise control as well. Houseman, Anna Washburn, Emaus and Nastasja Terpstra hooked up in the 400 relay; it was Houseman, Krcatovich, Terpstra and Velderman in the 800; Velderman, Krcatovich, DeZeeuw and Finney in the 1600 and Beilby, DeZeeuw, Krcatovich and Hannah Crouch in the 3200.

The Hopkins boys also won all four relays. Takings firsts were Carson Timm, Michael McKenzie, Logan Blank and Cole Bergman in the 4×100; Bergman, Blank, Hunter Lewellyn and Timm in the 4×200, Dan Rausch, Nick Belka, Lewellyn and Brandon DeGroot in the 4×400 and Belka, DeGroot, Jacob Pastoor and Dan Rausch in the 4×800.

Timm turned in a good day sprinting by winning both the 100 and 200. Rausch, DeGroot and Pastoor swept the top three places in the open 400. Freshman Todd Henley and Pastoor went 1-2 in the 1600 and Henley came back to win the 3200.

Logan Blank surprised no one by taking first in the 110-meter high hurdles.

The Rockets’ greatest strength was in field events. Collins, only a freshman, sneaked in first in the high jump and long jump at 19-5 and he pole vaulted 10-0 for a second.
