Both the Hopkins girls’ and boys’ track teams scored big dual meet victories Thursday over O-K Silver Conference rival Wyoming Godwin Heights.
The boys won 80-53 to even their league record at 1-1 and the girls prevailed 97-34 to bring their record to 2-0.
The girls won 12 events, including a sweep of all four relays.
Individual event winners were Brittney Houseman in the 100-meter dash and long jump, Madison Snoeyink in the 1600, Hannah Crouch in the 400,
Emma Helder 800, Julia Forbes 200, Shelby Henshaw shot put and Bailey Ballard discus.
The 400-meter relay team included Forbes, Madeline Krcatovich, Houseman and Lexi Merren.
The 800 quartet included Forbes, Josie Freybler, Laura Velderman and Merren.
The 1600-meter relay had Crouch, Freybler, Krcatovich and Velderman.
The 3200 relay included Jasmine Fisher, Freybler, Emma Helder and Velderman.
On the boys’ side of the competition, coach Jamie Kiss said, “This was a good team effort, as we scored a lot of points in the field events and the middle and long distance races.”
The 4×400 and 4×800 relays won, both quartets consisting of Zach Reitman, Michael Heppe, Nick Belka, and Danny Rausch.
Individual event winners included: Jake Pastoor (1600), Danny Rausch (800), Clayton Frank (shot put) Chad Tenbroeke (discus, 121-2), Jake Sytsma (high jump, 5-10), Michael Heppe (pole vault) and Logan Blank (long jump, 18-1).
