The Hopkins varsity volleyball team captured its first O-K Silver Conference championship since 2009 Saturday by going undefeated in the league tournament.
The Lady Vikings went 3-0 in matchups during the day and finished the conference with an overall record of 9-0. They Hopkins defeated Godwin Heights 25-15, 25-19 in the opening round, bested NorthPointe Christian 25-18, 25-17 in the semifinal round and came back to beat the Mustangs again the finals 23-25, 27-25, 15-10.
It was the fifth time this season they have claimed first place in a tournament.
Hopkins, which now owns an overall dual match record of 47-6-4, will be host Tuesday evening for the “Pink Out” match in honor of breast cancer survivors, with Allegan providing the friendly non-league opposition.
