The Hopkins High School varsity volleyball team captured its fourth invitational championship this fall by taking first in the 15th annual Switek Memorial Invitational in Hopkins.
The Lady Vikings went 7-0 in dual match encounters for the day. They now own a 42-6-4 overall season record and they are 4-0 in the O-K Silver Conference dual match standings.
Hopkins defeated Martin 25-21, 25-11 in the opening round; Holland 25-17, 25-13; Grand Rapids Union 25-4, 25-4 and Hastings 25-20, 25-16 in pool play. The Lady Vikings bested GR Union 25-1, 25-10 in the quarterfinal round, edged Fremont 26-24, 26-24 in the semifinals, and took out Holland 25-11, 25-21 in the championship match.
