It had to be a satisfying experience Thursday evening for a Hopkins girls’ varsity basketball team that’s been struggling on the hardcourt this season.

The Lady Vikings defeated O-K Silver Conference opponent Calvin Christian 40-35, a reversal of a tough two-point 34-32 loss to the Lady Squires only last week. Furthermore, it stopped the bleeding in a stretch in which Hopkins dropped seven of its last eight ballgames.

Sophomore center Mady Weber netted 13 points and gathered 17 rebounds. and Olivia Sebright and Maya Kerber both added nine points.

It was the opposite development, meanwhile, as Calvin Chrstian pulled out a 59-57 overtime victory over the Hopkins boys.

The Lady Vikings, now 5-9 on the season overall, will play tonight NorthPointe Christian, as do the Viking boys, now 7-7
