The Hopkins girls’ varsity cross-country team placed third among five teams competing Wednesday in the second O-K Silver Conference jamboree.
This contest was held at the L.M. Wise Preserve in Hopkins Township.
The Lady Vikings had a team score of 69 points. Calvin Christian won it again, with 21 points, and Belding was second with 46.
Belding sophomore Julia Finley again was individual medalist with a time of 20:29.94. Senior Alyssa Beilby led Hopkins with a time of 23;24.18, good for 13th place.
Freshman Hannah Fisher was 17th, foreign exchange student Astrid Baandrup was 20th, Alexis Zalis was 23rd and Joy Athearn 24th.
In the boys’ meet, Hopkins fielded only three runners, Adam Ball, Dan Heiden and Zachary Wisser, and therefore did not post a team score. Calvin Christian won with 23 points and Belding had 38. Only four of the seven league teams had enough runners to post a team score.
