The Hopkins girls’ varsity basketball team earned sweet revenge against Kelloggsville Tuesday night.
The Lady Vikings struggled offensively and lost to the O-K Silver Conference rival Saturday afternoon, their first loss in league play this season, but came back to turn the tables 43-39. The triumph left them with a Silver record of 6-1 and an overall mark of 8-5. Their biggest obstacle to repeating as league champ is NorthPointe Christian, which is undefeated in the conference.
Hopkins got off to a slow start Tuesday night, trailing 24-18 at halftime. However, the Lady Vikings were able to close the gap to 34-31 at the end of three quarters and they overtook the Rockets in the final eight minutes.
Senior point guard Kennedy Helderop scored 17 points and Olivia Sebright added 10.
Hopkins will play a non-conference contest on the road Friday against Grand River Prep.
