The Hopkins girls’ varsity softball team lifted its overall season record to 5-2 Monday with a doubleheader sweep of NorthPointe Christian.
The Lady Vikings took the first game: 10-3 and then came back to win the nightcap, 9-2.
Hopkins put up four runs in the fourth inning of the opener. Katilyn Bluhm, Maddie Wyngarden, Madelyn Schans and Hannah Wubben all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.
Schans pitched all five innings to pick up the victory. She allowed two hits and three runs while striking out eight.
The Lady Vikings tallied 18 hits in the game with Wubben, Emily Dimock, Wyngarden, Emma Martonosi, Schans, and Sierra Smith all getting multiple hits. Wyngarden, Dimock and Wubben led the way with three apiece, Wyngarden pilfered three bases.
Coach Amy Bishop Funk said Hopkins has eight stolen bases and did not commit an error defensively.
