The Hopkins girls’ varsity basketball team’s season came to an abrupt end in the opening round of the Division 2 district tournament at Hudsonville Unity Christian.
The Lady Vikings were held to their lowest offensive output of the season with only 24 points in a 48-24 defeat at the hands of the host Crusaders. They finished with an overall record of 12-9 while Hudsonville Unity (8-12) now moves on to meet Holland Christian (14-6) Wednesday evening and the winner of that one likely will have to face an undefeated Hamilton outfit Friday evening in the finals.
On a more positive note, Hopkins graduates only one senior, leading scorer, quarterback and point guard Kennedy Helderop.
