The Hopkins girls’ track team was runner-up in the Gull Lake Invitational Friday, scoring 65 points. Gull Lake won it with 98.
Highlighting the individual performances was Julia Forbes, who captured first places in the 200-meter dash and in the long jump. She crossed the finish line in 27.01 seconds in the 200 and she took the long jump with a leap of 16-6.75.
Bailey Ballard was the other individual champion for the Lady Vikings, winning the discus with a throw of 119-5. She also was second in the 300-meter low hurdles in 52.32 seconds and third in 100-meter highs in 18.34 seconds.
Freshman Emma Helder was impressive in the 800- meter, taking second in 2:40.77.
Scoring fifth places were Lexi Merren in the 100-meter dash, the 800-meter relay with Josie Freybler, Savannah Emaus, Forbes and Merren, and the 3200-meter relay with Madison Snoeyink, Freybler, Helder and Jasmine Fisher.
The Hopkins boys finished in 11th place with 6 points. Taking fifths were Clayton Frank in shot put, Chad Tenbroeke in the discus and Logan Blank in the 110-meter high hurdles.
