The Hopkins girls’ varsity cross-country squad came up with an impressive outing by checking in third p-lace in the 15-team Bangor Invitational Saturday morning.
Gobles won the team competition with a score of 78, Paw Paw was runner-up and the Lady Vikings accumulated 114 points.
Senior and team leader Jaeden Harshberger cracked the top 10 in eighth place with a five-kilometer time of 21:09.37. She was followed by Kambria Moored in 21:25.13, Allison Breining 22nd, freshman Lillian Dewey 40th and freshman Sutton Collier 45th.
The Hopkins boys’ varsity cross-country team finished 10th.
Plainwell took first in the competition with only 29 team points. The Vikings checked in with 314.
Sophomore Jack Estelle was Hopkins’ top runner again, taking 22nd place with a time of 18:06.75. Kenyon Katje was 53rd in 19:38.38. freshman Isaiah Robinson was 60th in 19:54.72, freshman Derek Zapolnik was 71st in 20:29 and sophomore Johnathan Buskirk 81st in 20:50.19.
There were 124 individual runners who competed in the race.
