The Hopkins varsity softball team’s overall season record slipped to 11-9 Monday after being on the wrong end of a doubleheader sweep against Wyoming.
The Lady Vikings dropped the opener 8-2 and then lost 16-11 in game two.
The wheels came off for Hopkins in the fourth inning of the nightcap, when the Wolves rallied for 10 runs. Kelsey Dusseau threw three innings, gave up six hits and hit a batter. She was relieved by Morgan Fifelski, who threw part of an inning, gave up a hit, two walks and hit a batter. Hailey Burch finished up by tossing the last four innings, giving up six hits.
Lexi Merren had three singles, Kylan Winchester had a homer and a double with three RBIs, Hannah VanDeRoovart had a single and a double, and Kelley Kloska had a single and a home run.
Hailey Burch threw five innings in the opener, gave up nine hits, struck out one and walked no one. Kelsey Dusseau threw an innning, gave up two hits, no walks and struck out one.
VanDeRoovart had a double and a single and Makayla Bulich had two hits.
The Lady Vikings still have a 7-3 record in the O-K Silver Conference.
