After suffering two defeats in pool play Wednesday, the Hopkins varsity volleyball team rebounded to take the championship in the Silver Division of the Delton Kellogg tournament.
Hopkins started the day by getting past Benton Harbor 25-7, 25-5, but then lost to Saugatuck 25-19 and 25-19 and Caledonia 25-11 and 25-11.
The Lady Vikings came back to beat Middleville Thornapple Kellogg 25-22, 25-21 in the Silver Bracket semifinals and
then took revenge on Saugatuck 25-18, 25-21 in the finals.
Statisically, Hannah Van de Roovaart dished out 61 assists and 15 serving aces; Madison Wyngarden had five aces;
Lexi Merren delivered 36 kills, Meghan Schulz had 14, Logan Brummel 11 and Mikayla Bulich 10;
Meghan Schulz came up with 5 blocks, Macy Arndt/Mikayla Bulich 3, and Hailey Shank had 37 digs, Lexi Merren 26, and Hannah Van de Roovaart/Mikayla Bulich 19.
Hopkins’ overall record now is 10-7-1.
