The Hopkins varsity volleyball team lost three of four sets to Holland Christian, ranked No. 9 in the state in Division 2.

The defeat in the district tournament semifinals ended the Lady Vikings’ season with an overall record of 49-7-4. It also marked the first time they had lost since the Zeeland Invitational in late September.

Holland Christian Wednesday at Hopkins prevailed by scores of 25-12, 25-17, 22-25 and 25-15. So Holland Christian will meet Hamilton, ranked fifth in the state, in the district finals at 7 p.m. Thursday at Hopkins.

Statistical leaders for the Lady Vikings Wednesday night were:

• Assists: Corrie Wisser 19, Lindsey Bulich 4.

• Kills: Brianna Miller 15, Ashley Bultema 9, Corrie Wisser/Natasja Terpstra 2, Natalie McDonald/Lindsey Bulich 1.

• Blocks: Lindsey Bulich/Natasja Terpstra 2, Ashley Bultema/Corrie Wisser/Natalie McDonald 1.

• Aces: Ashley Bultema 4, Payton Nichols/Lindsey Bulich 1.

• Digs: Brianna Miller 13, Lindsey Bulich 11, Corrie Wisser 8, Payton Nichols 6, Ashley Bultema 5, Evangelina Helderop/Emma Martonosi 2.

Coach Terri Wisser’s Hopkins squad also completed the season as undefeated champions of the O-K Silver Conference.
