Hopkins handed Grandville Calvin Christian a rare O-K Silver Conferece loss Monday in the first game of a doubleheader, 2-1.
The Lady Vikings, however, lost game two, 10-2.
Hailey Burch threw all seven innings in the opener, gave up only four hits, no walks and struck out three.
Hannah VanDeRoovart clubbed a two-run homer in the fourth inning and Burch and the Vikings held on the rest of the way, turning back the Squires rally for one run in the bottom of the seventh.
Things went south quickly in the nightcap. The Squires plated three runs in both of the first two innings and never looked back.
Kelsey Dusseau threw four innings, gave up four hits, a walk, seven runs, five of which were earned.
Morgan Fifelski threw three innings, gave up five hits, three runs. Both she and Dusseau struck out one Calvin batter.
Hopkins’ overall season record now is 12-7.
