Lady Wildcat bowlers among the best in Michigan

The Wayland girls’ varsity bowling team’s amazing stretch earlier this month was more than just school record setting.

The Lady Wildcats have placed themselves statistically among the top performing teams in the state. Their 976 game in a conference dual match against Hudsonville Unity Christian put them at ninth best in Michigan, with Flint Kearsley first with 1070 pins. Their two-game score of 1889 placed them fifth, with Kearsley again on top with 2051.

Even more impressive are the exploits of senior co-captain Sydney Urben and junior Amber Beggs.

Urben, who was individual state runner-up in Division 2 as a sophomore, has racked up the best individual game with a 290. She is way out in front in best two-game score of 537, 68 pins better than the runner-up.

Urben also has rolled the fourth highest game at 257 and Beggs is right behind her at 256 and 255, both among the top 10 individual performances.

The girls’ performances have complemented recent record setting team performances by the Wildcat boys, coached by Sherry Miklusicak. Mike Omness is coaching the girls.

The Lady Wildcats are still undefeated this season in dual matches and were second in one tournament and fourth in two others.
