The Wayland girls’ varsity bowling team has joined the boys’ basketball team in being regarded as among the state’s best in Class B.
A beaming coach Bill Holbrook announced the Lady Wildcats are ranked No. 5 in the latest state-wide Division 2 poll.
“So, I know I brag about my girls… a little. However, today the rest of Michigan knows how good they are,” Holbrook said. “I am so incredibly proud of how hard they work and how far they have come in such a short amount of time. Please take a moment and congratulate them!”
The Lady Wildcats thus far this season have logged an 11-0 dual match record and have won two tournaments, at Cedar Springs and Jenison. They have finished second at the Portage tournament and at the pre-conference competition.
The WHS boys’ basketball team, with its 10-1 record, has been ranked No. 4 in the latest Associated Press state-wide Class B poll.
The girls and boys, who themselves are 8-3 overall and 6-1 in the league, are competing Saturday in the Zeeland East Invitational.
