The Wayland girls’ varsity bowling team seemed to pick up where it left off nearly a year ago by posting a 26-4 dual match victory Monday over South Christian in its season opener.
Much worse for the rest of the O-K Gold Conference, it appears star Lady Wildcat keglers Kadence Bottrall and Bella Harnish haven’t lost their dominance on the lanes.
“It was great to finally be able to have the kids on the lanes today competing!” said coach Eric Bottrall. “Our hearts go out to basketball, wrestling and cheer as they are still waiting for their seasons to begin!”
Wayland Ladies enjoyed quite an advantage at the Rock ‘N Bowl Lanes, as South Christian only had three bowlers.
“It’s weird, as they have been one of the strong competitors in the past, the coach commented.
The Lady ‘Cats brought home the winwith Baker games of 146 and 162 to go up 10-0.
Individual matches were won by: Lillian Gates, Bella Harnish (205), and Kadence Bottrall (225), newcomer Senior Josie Melinn, Bella Harnish (189) and Kadence Bottrall (226). Haley Taylor lost her match by just one pin.
Other new bowlers seeing their first varsity bowling experience are Breanna Hyde and Sarisa Cawley.
The Wildcat boys’ team lost its season opener Monday, and coach Sherry Miklusicak said, “The way it is scored makes it look like a blowout, when in fact it was pretty close.”
