Lady Wildcat bowlers prepare for regionals as No. 5 in the state

Lady-Cats-Conf-champs-300x176The Wayland girls’ varsity bowling team continues to be ranked No. 5 in Division 2 of the Michigan High School Interscholastic Bowling Coaches Association state-wide poll.

The rating comes just as coach Bill Holbrook’s Lady Wildcats, 16-1 in dual matches for the season, are preparing for the Division 2 regional tournament at Continental Lanes in Kalamazoo Friday and Saturday (Feb. 26-27). The boys’ team, 12-5 under the guidance of coach Sherry Miklusicak, will be competing in the tourney as well.

The Lady Wildcats also go into regionals as O-K Gold/Green Conference co-champions.

Holbrook said there have been no changes in the top six team listings since they first came out a month ago.

“As we prepare for our regional tournament next Friday and Saturday, it will be a challenging, as five of the top 10 in Division 2 are in our region,” Holbrook commented. “The top three teams and top 10 individuals from each region move on to state the following weekend.  If we believe in ourselves and each other, no one can get in our way!”
