The Wayland High School junior varsity girls’ golf team is on a record roll thus far this season.

The junior Lady Wildcats defeated South Christian 223 to 232 Wednesday to claim their school-record seventh consecutive victory. They now have bested the Sailors twice and Ottawa Hills, Cedar Springs, GR Catholic Central, Kenowa Hills and Thornapple Kellogg in dual matches to fashion a 7-0 overall record.

Turning in personal best performances were Josie Melinn with a 53 and Ashlyn Barrett shot a  64. Team members Rylee Huston, Amaya Troung, Summer Morrison, Ashlyn Barrett, Josie Mellin and Claira Vandenburg all won head-to-head over their opponents from South in Wednesday afternoon’s win at Orchard Hills.

Huston parred #3 a par 4 and Amaya Troung parred a long par 5 while on their way to victory.

The Lady ‘Cats will have their toughest test yet Monday when they face Catholic Central once again, but this time on the Cougars’ home turf at Quail Ridge.
