The Wayland High School junior varsity golf team is continuing its pursuit of a perfect and record-breaking season.

The young Lady Wildcats hiked their dual match season record to 9-0, a school record, with a 224-245 victory Wednesday over Cedar Springs at their home course at Orchard Hills.

The ladies already have the longest win streak and just tied for most dual match wins in a season. They will be back at Orchard Hills Monday afternoon for a contest against Middleville Thornapple Kellogg, looking for a double record breaker.

Summer Morrison destroyed her personal best score Wednesday night as part of the win against Cedar Springs. Asleigh Grahm was the medalist for the evening with a 53. Josie Melinn was only one stroke off that score and helped propel the team to victory. Every one of the girls beat their opponent in a head-to-head comparison

The ‘Cats made it eight victories in a row Tuesday with a road victory, 220 to 235, over Grand Rapids Catholic Central. Josie Melinn had a 54, best score of the night among a tightly scoring group, just two strokes separating the four scorers. Amaya Troung had a par and a birdie while tying with Claira Vandenberg at 55 and Ashliegh Grahm had a par in her round of 56.
