Wayland all-state senior poinPresley 2-27t guard Presley Hudson was runner-up in the final voting for the 34th annual Miss Basketball award for the most outstanding girls’ basketball player in Michigan.

A four-year starter for the Lady Wildcats who collected more than 1,000 points during her career, she finished second to Tania Davis of Goodrich. Only one other girls’ basketball player in school history, Angie Farmer Stauffer, has been a finalist for the state’s top individual award. Hudson and Stauffer share the school record for most points in one game, 40.

Hudson, despite shooting a lot of three-point field goals, finished the season with a shooting percentage of better than 50%, an 83% percentage at the free throw line, more than 21 points per game, almost seven and a half assists per contest, about three and a half steals, and despite her diminutive stature, almost five rebounds per game.

The daughter of Wayland High School boys’ varsity basketball coach Mike Hudson, she is part of a basketball family, which also includes all-stater and former Cornerstone University All-NAIA performer Wes Hudson, and sophomore Avery Hudson, who just finished his second year on the Wildcat varsity.

She plans to play basketball next winter for Central Michigan University and has visions of eventually coaching the game.
