The Wayland girls’ varsity cross-country team finished 20th in a field of 40 teams Friday in the Bronze Division of the Michigan State University Spartan Invitational.
The Lady Wildcats finished with 453 team points. Frankenmuth won the team tally with 218, Petosky was runner-up with 242 and Cadillac third with 246.
Wayland’s boys checked in 36th with a team tally of 1,081 points. O-K Gold Conference rival Forest Hills Eastern won it with 169, Shepherd was runner-up and Charlevoix third.
Junior Rylee Cronkright again led the Lady Wildcats individually, finishing 33rd with a time of 20:53.5. Sophomore Naomi Oosterhouse was 98th in 22:30.5 and junior Gracie Hasse 99th at 22:30.8 senior Zoe Antel was 114th and freshman Haylee Jasinski 117th.
There were 267 individual runners who competed.
Junior Ian Russell led the Wayland boys with a time of 19:31.7, good for 148th place,
