Lady Wildcats 3rd, boys 6th at Gold bowling tourney

Wildcat seniors Alan Beggs and Max Oosterhouse

The Wayland girls finished third and the boys sixth Saturday in the O-K Gold Conference bowling tournament at Park Center.

Max Oosterhouse recorded the highest scores for the Wildcats.

“It was a great team effort, as everyone of our guys bowled over their season averages,” coach Sherry Miklusicak said.

Mark Musgrave III earned honorable mention accolades for All-Conference selections.

Alan Beggs led the team with scores of 194, 201, and 148.
Max Oosterhouse had games of 161, 162, and 178, but was rolling his ball much better than his scores indicate. Stephen Harnish
rolled games of 138, 166, and 141. Mark Musgrave III
started out with a nice 182 and followed with 143 and 142.

Lady Wildcat sophomore ace Kadence Bottrall finished third in the tourney and ended the year with the highest individual average (199) in league action for the second straight season. Bella Harnish took seventh in the tourney and Brianna took 10th on the All-Tournament team. Harnish ended with the third highest individual average at 185.

Both Bottrall and Harnish were named to the All-Conference team.

The Wildcat bowlers will prepare for this week’s regionals in Kalamazoo with Miklusicak’ admonition, “The road to state is paved by spares.”
