Kenzie Wolf came up big for the Lady Wildcats with 12 points, including three threes.

The Wayland girls’ varsity basketball team registered a 55-44 victory Tuesday evening over Wyoming to lifts its season record to 11-5 and its O-K Gold Conference record to 4-4.

The Lady Wildcats were all together in the wake of 6-2 junior pivot Stephanie Ainsworth’s return from an injury and it showed with some balance in offensive punch.

Ainsworth and senior guard Kenzie Wolf led in scoring with 12 points apiece and Katy Anderson and Parrish Hudson both added 11. It marked the first time this season as many as four ‘Cats reached double figures.

The two teams were tied 8-8 at the end of the first quarter, but Wayland took at 24-19 lead at intermission and was up 42-32 at the end of three periods.

The victory avenged a 73-63 loss last month on Wyoming’s floor.

The Wildcat boys later in the evening lost 93-63 to a Wyoming outfit that now is 13-1 overall for the season. Wayland is 0-15.
