Lady Wildcats’ bats booming with 90 runs in 4 games

It’s been like batting practice for the Wayland varsity softball team thus far this week The Lady Wildcats have scored 90 runs in two doubleheader sweeps against O-K Gold Conference opponents Monday and Tuesday.

The latest, 15-0 and 24-0 verdicts over East Grand Rapids Tuesday, lifted their season record to 12-8 overall and they are now 7-1 in the league standings.

Emily Bailey threw her second no-hitter of the season in the nightcap and joined the offensive fireworks with three hits and three runs batted in. Fellow freshman Emma Ludema was 2-for-2 with four RBIs, Grace Kincaid  was 2-for-2 with two RBIs, Ally Longstreet went 2-for-3 Kayla Reed  unloaded a triple and a single, Rya VanderKooi had a single and two walks and Emma Tornes, Kennedy Cole and Ava Dutkiewicz, each collected a hit.

Ludema hurled a one-hitter ijn the opener and went 2-for-2 with an RBI. Rya VanderKooi was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Longstreet had a double with two RBIs, and Cole, Reed, Bailey, and Dutkiewicz had one apiece.
