The Wayland girls’ golf team defeated Hamilton 189-201 Monday afternoon in a non-conference dual match at at the Orchard Hills Golf Course.
Leading the way for the Lady Wildcats again was senior all-state ace Ali Martus with a 39. It marked the eighth straight match that Martus has carded a nine-hole score of better than 40 or an 18-hole score of better than 80. She has broken 40 and 80 in every one of her outings thus far this season.
Teammate Alexis Kirschbaum came in with a 44, Hunter Fenton with a 52 and Marisa Schild with a 54 in perhaps Wayland’s finest team effort of the season.
The Wildcats will play next at Yankee Springs Golf Course, home of the Middleville Thornapple Kellogg Trojans, Wednesday in the third O-K Gold Jamboree this fall.
