The Wayland girls’ varsity soccer team came up with its first victory of the season Friday with a 4-0 non-league verdict over Allendale.
However, the Lady Wildcats Monday evening returned to O-K Gold Conference action with a 4-1 loss to Forest Hills Easterrn.
In Friday’s vistory, Amanda Brown tallied two goals for the Lady Wildcats and McKenna Bruin added another. Assists were made by Bruin and Kennedy Thelen.Keeper Lilly Bolliger made nine saves en route to her first career shutout.
At Forest Hills Monday, after being down 1-0 at halftime and 2-0 midway through the second half, Hannah Henney who scored from the penalty spot to breathe life into her team. However, two quick goals from the home team put an end to the comeback and sent Wayland home with the loss.
Lilly Bolliger made 15 saves in goal for the Wildcats, bringing her season total to 45.
The girls are back in action as they are host to conference opponents East Grand Rapids Wednesday evening.
