Lady Wildcats blank Ottawa Hills to improve record to 10-5-1

Girls-SoccerThe Wayland varsity girls’ soccer team followed up its big conference win Monday against South Christian with a fourth consecutive conference victory, beating Ottawa Hills 8-0 Wednesday night.

The victory lifted the Lady Wildcats’ overall season record to 10-5-1.

Sarrah Sweeris and Brinley Nieuwenhuis both scored a couple of goals and Sam Taylor, Ali Cutler, Lynnsey Hooker and Hanna Moulenbelt added one apiece. Assists were made by Cutler, Megan VanHees and Katie Klump.

Hannah Anderson recorded the shutout in goal, but didn’t have to come up with any saves. The ‘Cats had 23 shots on goal against Ottawa and eight of them found the back of the net.

The girls will play again on the road against nonleague opponent Hamilton Friday and finish their home schedule with a huge conference clash with Thornapple Kellogg next Monday.
