The Wayland girls’ varsity basketball team Tuesday night bounced back from a terrible drubbing last week at the hands of unbeaten West Catholic by getting past Hamilton 58-46.
The victory moved the Lady Wildcats’ overall season record to 5-2.
Meanwhile, the Wayland boys’ squad pulled out a 66-65 thriller on the Hawkeyes’ court to remain unbeaten this season in three outings. A buzzer-beating shot was the difference. Hamilton fell to 3-1.
Sophomore Harmony Laker led the Wayland girls’ offensive attack with 23 points. Older sister Liberty Laker, senior point guard, netted 12 points, one less than senior guard Maddy Terry, who came up with three three-point field goals and finished with 13.
Junior Ava Makowski had her best offensive effort to date by tallying eight points.
The Lady Wildcats will be back on their home court Wednesday evening with another non-league encounter, this one against Forest Hills Central.
