The Wayland girls’ varsity bowling team bounced back from its upset tie with South Christian to thrash Wyoming 29-1 Wednesday afternoon.

The Lady Wildcats jumped out to an early 10-0 lead by winning the first Baker game 168-129 and the second 134-90. The Lady Wildcats kept the pedal to the floor in the first individual team game with their best team game of the year winning 894-537 and extending their lead to 19-0. They concluded their strong afternoon of bowling taking 10 of the last 11 points, 882-546.

g the way tonight was senior lefty Alicia Sweeney (200-205=405).

They averaged better than 177 as a team.

“That’s what these girls are capable of, a solid team effort!” said coach Bill Holbrook. “This was a grea

t effort by everyone who bowled tonight. There were no bad games tonight.

The coach added, “It was a fitting effort for Senior Night! The girls are hitting their stride and gaining confidence in their ability.

“It was bitter sweet knowing this was my last head-to-head match with these amazing young ladies. I am so proud of every one of them for their hard work, commitment to their team and their competitive drive!”

Next up is back-to-back tournaments; Friday at the Portage Northern Invitational (a tournament Wayland won two years ago and finished second last year) and Saturday at the Cedar Springs Redhawk Invitational (which the Wildcats return to as defending champions).
