The Wayland girls’ varsity basketball team captured its second straight blowout Thursday night with a 55-36 decision at Kenowa Hills.

The boys’ squad, however, lost to Kenowa at home, 54-39, to fall to 0-2.

The Lady Wildcats actually led 53-19 after three periods, but were outscored 17-2 in the final stanza after coach Wes Hudson empties his bench. They led 9-0 in the first three minutes and were up 19-6 at the first quarter buzzer.

The win came 24 hours after they defeated Ottawa Hills 65-24 in their season opener Wednesday night, so they are 2-0 in O-K Gold Conference play.

The Wildcat boys will be on their home court at noon Saturday, Feb. 13, to entertain Cedar Springs. The girls will host Cedar at 7:30 p.m.
