The Wayland girls’ basketball team dominated O-K Gold Conference opponent Forest Hills Eastern 71-28 Friday night.
The guys’ squad had a rough night, losing 84-60 to the Hawks, who the ‘Cats defeated last month 77-64 on the road. The Wayland boys’ record overall now is 2-16.
The Lady Wildcats moved their overall season record to 11-6 with the merry romp. They were so dominating that the starters sat on the bench for all but two minutes of the second half.
Furthermore, no fewer than 11 Wayland players scored in the rout.
The individual scoring was spread out throughout the roster. Harmony Laker led the way with 15 points, Marissa Ainsworth added 12, as both drilled three, three-point field goals. Dacey Schaefer netted 10 points and Addy Sikorsky contributed eight.
The victory lifted the ‘Cats’ record in the O-K Gold Conference to 7-2. They still are tied with Cedar Springs for second place in the league standings. Cedar survived a close battle Friday night with South Christian, 44-41.
Grand Rapids Catholic Central continues to lead the league. The Cougars edged Wayland by one point in overtime last month.
