The Wayland High School varsity volleyball team suffered a heart-breaking three-set loss Tuesday night to O-K Gold Conference rival Grand Rapids Catholic Central.

The Lady Wildcats were edged 15-13 in the fifth set and saw their league record evened at 1-1 a week after they swept South Christian.
“I see improvement each time these girls step on the court,” said coach Krissy Dill.
The visiting Cougars entered the match ranked No. 12 in the state Division 2 poll.
Wayland, which will face another Gold foe tonight in Cedar Springs, also won one of three matches in a quad meet at Otsego Saturday, sweeping the host school.
