The Wayland varsity softball team lifted its overall season record to 10-8 Monday by sweeping a makeup doubleheader against Forest Hills Eastern.
The Lady Wildcats won is style, 27-1 and 24-0. They have lost only once to an O-K Conference opponent this season in a split with South Christian.
Outfielder Ally Longstreet, the only senior on coach Cheri Ritz’s youngest team ever, boomed out six hits in the two games and drove home six runs. Kennedy Cole cracked a home run, had eight runs batted in for the day on five hits.
Emily Bailey went 3-for-4 with five RBIs in the opener, Rya VanderKooi went 2 for-2 with two RBIs in the nightcap. Kayla Reed went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Lauren Chiaramonte and Haley Dobry were both 1-for-1.
