Lady Wildcats keep on rollin’ over Byron Center

Byron Center came to the Wayland Rock ‘N Bowl lanes Wednesday, but were were turned away in a girls’ bowling dual match 20.5 to 9.5.

The visiting boys’ outfit fared much better, downing Wildcats by a 28-2 count,

“Scores were a little tough this evening as lanes were drier than normal,” said Lady Wildcats’ coach Eric Bottrall.

Wayland ladies wept both Baker games. In match one, The Wildcats’ number 4 and 5 bowlers led the team and took their points and total as well. Bella Harnish rolled a 157 and Kadence Bottrall nailed a 217.

“Tori Salabutino and Chiara Cavaletto, our exchange students, were so much fun to watch in the second match,” Bottrll said. “They have been working hard and the pure joy showed on their faces. It warmed my heart to see their faces when they rolled good balls. High game in match two was Kadence Botrall with a 192.

Boys’ coach Sherry Miklusicak said, “Our boys did not show up to the Baker match tonight. Well, their bodies were there but their game just wasn’t tonight. They didn’t give up however and fought hard in the two matches that followed.”

Geary Rookus saw his first varsity action and performed well as he just switched to two-handed bowling at practice Tuesday.

“This young man is so laid back and polite! He has been a pleasure to have on the team as well as in the classroom – I just wish he joined before his senior year!” the coach said.

She added that Deven Gardner also did well, as he just got a new ball Tuesday. No more house balls having only rolled his fingertip a few times, “I was thoroughly pleased with how well he did.”

High games for the Wildcat boys were from Jordan Fitzgerald 160, Mark Musgrave 157, and Alan Beggs 160.
