The Wayland varsity softball lost three games Saturday to Division 1 opponents at the Gull Lake Invitational, evening its overall season record at 7-7.
The Lady Wildcats were edged 9-8 by a Lowell team that is on the honorable mention.
Highlighting the Wayland offensive effort was freshman Emma Ludema, who went 2-for-2 with an RBI, a sacrifice bunt and a walk.
Lauren Chiaramonte and Grace Kincaid each scored a run and drilled a single for the Wildcats. Kayla Reed had a double and scored two runs. Emma Tornes and Emily Bailey and Rya VanderKooi all had a single.
Division 1 honorable mention Mattawan proved to be too much in a 14-5 defeat.
Kennedy Cole came up with three hits in four at-bats, Kayla Reed went 2-for4, as did Rya VanderKooi.
Lauren Chiaramonte had a double and Ally Longstreet a single.
A senior dominated Byron Center squad bested the Lady Wildcats 10-5. Longstreet went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and Cole had the biggest blast of the day with a triple.
