So the question has to be: How good is the Wayland girls’ basketball team?

The Lady Wildcats won their first two encounters by blowouts and then subdued Cedar Springs by a little less, but then Tuesday night defeated a 3-0 South Christian squad that beat them three times a year ago, by a 50-32 count, 18 points.

How good is this team, coached by WHS grad Wes Hudson, that only won one game three years ago, but 14 last season after going 8-0?

As of Tuesday evening, West Michigan and the O- K Gold Confgerence has to ask the question. Is this a “rags to riches” story?

The Lady Wildcats defeated an opponent that beat them not once, not twice, but thrice in three encounters a year ago. Are they for real?

Wayland will be at Grand Rapids Covenant Christian Thursday evening and will play Middleville Thornapple Kellogg Friday evening at home.
