The Wayland girls’ and boys’ bowling team rolled against a Division 1 opponent for the second afternoon in a row, with the girls upping their record to 2-0, but the guys ended up getting taken to the woodshed.

The ladies took down the Rams of Rockford 27-3. Wayland never trailed and performed better in Baker games today with scores of 156 and 148.

Lauren Healy took her first match point with a score of 132, Kaylee McCartney won her point with a 112, then came Brianna Hyde with a 149 game. Finishing off game 1 was Bella Harnish’s 190 and Kadence Bottrall’s whopping 258.

Game 2 featured Madison Bottrall, Julia Guenther, Carola Basso and a superb 235 game by Bella Harnish.

Coach Eric Bottrall said, “A special shout out to our exchange students Julia and Carola. They are having so much fun and their smiles are worth a million!”

But in the boys’ match, coach Sherry Miklusicak said the Rockford Rams put on a clinic during the second match at Rock ‘N Bowl.

“When a team rolls 17 out of the first 20 balls as strikes, there isn’t much you can do,” she observed. “Rockford then went the first 7 frames with only two opens. How they heck do you catch up with that?”

The Rams averaged 203 as a team.

“I haven’t seen a team stay hot like that for both games,” Miklusicak said. “Stephen Harnish mentioned what I had already thought about: We have seen teams get hot in the first game and then the lanes burn up, but Rockford just got hotter. It was just some amazing bowling to witness and hopefully inspires our young bowlers.”

The Wildcats fortunately took one Baker game after a miserable first Baker game.

High games for Wayland boys: Freshman Ashton Kasprowicz 157, freshman James Stephens 166, newcomer Senior Carson Beck 168 and Stephen Harnish 180.
