Martus Sparta2The Wayland girls’ varsity basketball team improved its season record to 6-4 Tuesday by cruising to a 63-38 rout at Wyoming Godwin Heights.

The Lady Wildcats got off to a slow start, but gradually cranked up the offensive attack throughout the evening.

They led 19-11 at the end of one quarter and enjoyed a 35-22 lad at intermission.

Senior guard Ali Martus had 12 points in that first quarter, led all scores with 18 for the night. Godwin freshman guard Raviear Koppenhafer got her team off the hot start in the opening minutes and she led the Wolverines with 15.

No other Wildcat scored in double figures but Ali Cutler chipped in nine points and Hope Dollarhide, Sydney Ritz and McKaylah Donewald had eight apiece.

The Lady Wildcats will be at Hastings for an O-K Gold Conference contest Friday evening.
