Lady Wildcats to take 34-1 record to districts Saturday

The Wayland varsity softball team concluded its regular season Wednesday afternoon with a 6-1 victory over non-conference opponent Allendale to lift its overall season record to 34-1.

Harmony Laker, Kami Morse and Kaelyn Sikkema came up with a couple of hits apiece. Emma Tornes clouted a triple and Sikkema and Emma Ludema a double. Adding a single was Jada Mohon.

Ludema went the distance on the mound, striking out eight batters.

The Falcons are coached by 2012 WHS and 2016 Alma College alum Kayla Merice Smart.

The Wildcats will take on Middleville Thornapple Kellogg at 10 a.m. Saturday in the district tournament semifinals at Hopkins. If they can get past TK, there’s a good possibility they’ll play host Hopkins for the district championship.
