The Wayland girls’ varsity bowling team Saturday qualified tied for fifth place in the Zeeland Bakers tournament at Station 300 and ended the day in the semifinal round.

In match play later in the event, the Lady Wildcats made it all the way to semifinals and lost to the eventual winner, Hudsonville Unity Christian. They had earlier rolled in 10 Baker games.

“A third place finish for the ladies was great today,” said coach Eric Bottrall. “This group is young and talented. They are starting to get into the process and belief that they can compete with some of the top teams in the area.

“Keep the energy up ladies and great things will come from this. This was a total team effort again today as everyone got to get some valuable time on the lanes.”
