The Martin boys’ varsity track team finished third in the Division 4 regionals and the girls were fourth at Gobles Friday.
The Clipper boys accumulated 93 points, trailing only Kalamazoo Christian’s 122 and Kalamazoo Hackett’s 105. The Lady Clippers had 72.5 points while Marcellus won with 121.
The Martin boys’ team is sending 10 athletes to the state meet in six events. The girls will have seven athletes in four events.
Regional champions for the Clippers were:
• Charley Martin in the 100-meter high hurdles with a time of 16.55 seconds. JR. Teammate Hildebrand was fourth.
• Hildebrand in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 44.25 seconds, about a half-second faster than runner-up Martin.
• The 1600-meter relay quartet of James Blackburn, Sam Jager, Martin and Taegan Harris in 3:39.45.
• Drake Buell, who cleared 10-6 in the pole vault.
• Kyia Bozzo in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 54.62 seconds.
Earning second-place finishes were Cris Ramos in the discus and Mercedes Morin in the 1600 run, and Kylie Gonser, Elizabeth Reinke, Gracie Shettler and Katelin Bird in 800 relay. The same foursome was fourth in the 400-meter relay. Reinke was runner-up in the pole vault.
Elly Blackburn, Emily King, Shettler and Morin hooked up to finish third in the 1600-meter relay. Blackburn, King, Lily Stocking and Morin combined efforts to take fourth in the 3200 relay.
Lynsey Jager was third in the discus, Kylie Ritchie fourth in the high jump and Zoie Tuinstra fourth in the long jump.
