Martin boys beat 2 opponents at Comstock C-C meet

by Austin Marsman

Seth Hentschell and Brysan and Carsen Young led the Clippers to their first cross victory ever.

Martin’s newly newly-formed boys’ varsity cross country team captured its first victory in program history Tuesday by posted an astonishing first place among 30 Comstock and Galesburg-Augusta runners.

Coach John Visser, visibly proud of his runners, said, “They all did a fantastic job.”

The six Clipper boys took a team first place with 28 points. Brothers Brysan and Carsen Young finished in the top three. Senior Seth Hentschel finished fourth; freshman Kyle Pallet came in fifth; and the Visser brothers, Josh and Kyle, earned places to contribute to the victory.

Senior Danica Pallet finished fourth in the girls’ race.

The Martin girls competed with just four runners, one shy of a team. Senior Danica Pallet was the first Martin girl to finish, good enough for an individual fourth place.

Martin’s Cross Country squads will next run the course in Decatur Saturday.
