Veyda Conley

Martin freshman Veyda Conley has qualified for next Saturday’s state cross-country championship meet at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn.

Conley Saturday morning crossed the finish line in the five-kilometer regionals race in 19:50.93, the second time she has turned in a sub-20-minute performance this fall. She finished third in the individual race, easily making the cut at 15.

Teammate Emily King was 23rd, Kayden Jager 45th and Sara Schipper 46th, as Martin failed to post a team score with only four runners.

Alex Morin came in 28th in the boys’ race, in 18:33.91, Jadon Dettmon was 53rd, Gary Salvador-Garcia 59th and Hunter Hayes 64th.

The Clipper boys also did not have a team score because of too few runners.
