The Martin girls’ cross-country team brought home its first ever first-place trophy by winning at the Lawrence Invitational Wednesday.
Three of the five scoring runners had personal records (PRs). Both of the boys’ varsity men’s team had all PRs as well.
“I am so proud of all our runners for their hard running not only today but each day in practice as well,” said coach John Visser.
Mercedes Morin set the pace for the Lady Clippers by taking second place with a time of 22:27 in the five-kilometer race. Elliana Young was third in 22:46, Zoie Tuinstra fourth in 23:14, Samantha Stone eighth at 23:26 and Chloe Billington 12th.
Eli Dykstra was third in 18:29.51 in the boys’ competition and Alex Morin sixth in 19:28.05.
