The Martin girls’ cross country squad put a solid showing at the Hartford Invitational by placing third with 71 team points in the field of eight teams.

Ellie Young posted a 23:33.07 time to position her fifth overall at the Van Buren County Fairgrounds.

Mercedes Morin finished just 40 seconds behind her teammate to get a seventh-place finish. Zoie Tuinstra and Samantha Stone finished 13th and 14th, respectively.

Clippers Head Coach John Visser singled out the solid effort from Chloe Billington, who earned 32nd after suffering an ankle injury in the first third of the race. She finished with a time of 33:07.03.

In the boys’ race, Eli Dykstra finished eighth individually by. reducing his time by 30 seconds from last month.
