Martin came up up with a much bigger victory Friday in its second girls’ basketball encounter this season with SAC rival Lawrence.

The Lady Clippers won 55 to 33, after just one point decided their win in their last meeting earlier this season.

Up 10 to 8 after a quarter, 25 to 15 at the half, and 41-23 after three periods, the Clippers built a lead from the ground up.

Briana Balder enjoyed her senior night, dropping in 10 points. Teammate Faith Guritz, however, led the Clippers by posting 13 points. Kiaya Warner and Jaclyn Hildebrand were both good for nine apiece.

Friday’s win, combined with the 61-46 decision over Saugatuck on Tuesday moved the Lady Clippers to a 10-10 record overall. Martin finished fourth in the SAC Lakeshore Division with a record of 5-7.

The Clippers begin their pursuit of a district title on Wednesday in Climax Scotts against the Panthers for the first round. Tip-off is at 7 pm.
